What to Expect when going to the Dentist

what to expect when going to dentistBloomsburg, Danville, and Lewisburg, PA

Has it been a while since your last trip to the dentist? If so, you’re in for a real treat. Modern technology allows us to provide better care, in less time, and with greater comfort than ever before. Take a look at what Hamilton Dental Care, a modern dental practice in Bloomsburg, offers that will no longer make you feel anxious about your dental visits.

We like to begin by sitting down with you to discuss any changes in your health and oral health history. This also is a good time to mention any dental problems you’ve been experiencing. A thorough examination of your oral health will give us an idea as to whether or not any problems are going on, and from there, we can devise a treatment plan accordingly.

Here’s where our technology comes in to play. At Hamilton Dental Care, we employ the use of an intraoral camera. This device allows us to show you exactly what we are seeing inside of your mouth. It even helps us see better, too, since the camera provides an up close view of each tooth. We are able to project these findings directly onto a computer screen so that you, too, have the same view. As the old saying goes, “seeing is believing,” we think that by seeing what is going on with your oral health, you will have a greater understanding of the problem, and can participate in your treatment plan.

Using the intraoral camera is simple, and painless! We just ask that you hold your mouth open wide enough for us to use the device, and hold still as much as possible while we view the findings from the camera.

What if I need to have work done? I hate needles!

It is not uncommon for patients that have gone years without dental care to need some restorative treatments such as fillings or crowns. We want you to be comfortable during those types of procedures, which used to require an injection to make the patient’s mouth numb. Dr. Joel Hamilton and Dr. David Hamilton understand that needles can cause a great deal of fear for many patients, which is why we offer computerized anesthesia via The Wand™. This means that you can receive anesthesia without feeling a thing! Not only does The Wand™ provide a more comfortable experience for our patients, but its computerized delivery system allows us to apply anesthesia in a more accurate, safe manner than traditional injection methods.

No more whirr of the drill with electronic handpieces

Some patients walk into the dentist’s office for dental cleanings and do just fine. It’s not until they sit in the dentist’s chair for a filling or crown that they begin feeling anxious all thanks to that whirring sound emitted from the drill. It’s a familiar sound that almost everyone has heard, even if you’ve just heard it during a scene from a movie, you know that sound. Thanks to advancements in dentistry, Hamilton Dental Care uses electronic handpieces that provide greater precision, and that are much quieter than those traditional handpieces of the past. While our office has been using this advancement for a decade, electronic handpieces aren’t the norm among many dental offices in the area.

As you can see, technology makes a big difference in the type of experience you have at the dentist’s office. Offering this state-of-the-art technology doesn’t make us a fancy practice, or mean that our services will cost more, instead it means that we care about our patients and the kind of care they receive. We want you to have a positive experience when you come into our practice for care.
