Bloomsburg, Danville, and Lewisburg, PA
Most people do not have naturally perfect teeth. Even if you take good care of your teeth by brushing and flossing regularly, normal wear and tear, chewing, and aging will eventually take a toll on your teeth. Crooked teeth, or teeth with gaps, stains, or that are uneven in size can cause embarrassment. If this sounds like you, don’t fret, ask cosmetic dentists in Bloomsburg, Drs. David and Joel Hamilton about veneers at your next visit.
Let’s talk about veneers, what they are, how the process works, and if veneers are right for you.
Veneers are handcrafted from high-quality dental porcelain. The porcelain provides a seamless, natural look that looks just like real dental enamel. It doesn’t get any better than veneers when it comes to transforming imperfect teeth.
What to expect when getting veneers
The process begins by receiving a consultation at our office. The dentist will assess your teeth, oral health, and discuss with you what it is about your smile that you wish to change. In some cases, we may begin prep work that day, or we may reschedule you for a separate appointment.
Next, we will need to take impressions and digital x-rays of your teeth. This provides a guide for the dental lab that will be fabricating your veneers. Your teeth will need to be prepared by having a small amount of tooth structure removed to allow room for the veneers when they are ready. Before you leave the office, we will cover your teeth with temporary veneers.
It will take up to two weeks for your permanent veneers to be made. You will return to our office for the final step to have your permanent veneers bonded to your teeth. The dentist will make any necessary adjustments before sending you on your way with a confident smile!
Deciding if veneers are for you
Veneers have been used in cosmetic dentistry for decades. They provide a natural look and cover up a multitude of imperfections. If you have gapped teeth, teeth that are uneven, badly stained, chipped or otherwise imperfect, veneers are usually the right choice. The dental porcelain is stain resistant and should last at least a decade, sometimes longer. It is important, however, that you maintain good oral hygiene even when you have veneers.
